Gloria Pierce

Gloria Pierce is a South Florida artist originating from Chicago with a BFA in Painting from the University of Illinois and graduate work at the Chicago Art Institute. She has had numerous exhibitions at local galleries and museums all over Florida, Illinois and New York.  Her work is represented in many private and corporate collections throughout the country.

If you had smiled why would you have smiled?
To reflect that each one who enters
Imagines themselves to be the first to enter
Whereas you are always the last term of a
Preceding series even if the first term
Of a succeeding one, each imagining
Themselves to be the first, last, only and alone.
— James Joyce

Pierce's work explores the energy expressed in the act of creating art. Inspiration comes from the current mainstream in art, revealing a unique vision-from landscapes remembered, and those made up-are all vehicles for exploring the limits of color, energy, and the fores of nature and personal expression. The work communicates the responses and relation to the world and the region. The tales, however, are rarely narrative. The sense of time is compressed and the images are distorted as though the action is occurring in a dream. These works are at times friendly and rough, being fables for modern times.

A portion of all sales will be donated to "The Nature Conservancy" to help preserve the environment, the seas, and the beautiful fish that I am sharing with my artwork for future generations.
